Yemeni coffee on Socotra

Йеменский кофе домашней обжарки

Yemeni coffee is considered to be the best one in the world. However, it is practically impossible to try it in Yemen. In Sanaa there are no coffee houses we got used to. Locals make coffee at home. Hotels offer either dry coffee extract or week decoction of coffee chaff. In general, coffee has been almost completely replaced by kat.

I buy green coffee beans of high quality in Sanaa, roast it by myself and make coffee on coals in a special coffee pot bought in the city of Damask.

As far back as in Alexander of Maсedon’s times Socotra supplied a great deal of not only frankincense and myrrh, but also Dragon’s blood, which was rubbed in by gladiators before combats for quick wound healing.
