Socotra’s parties
The Socotrans are joyful and cheerful people. None of holidays goes without dances and playing the drum. I took part in some of such parties arranged in Hadiboh every week.
Many fishermen living on Socotra are Africans by birth. This explains high popularity of African drum rhythms on the island. Hadiboh has a small group of musicians that play the drum during all big parties.
